Burmautskottet har varit aktivt i över tio års tid och är tillsammans med våraandra internationella projekt inom Socialdemokratiska studentförbundet en plattform for internationellt engagemang.
Genom vår partnerorganisation Students and Youth Congress of Burma (SYCB) kanaliserar vi resurser till arbete med demokratiutbildning och organisering av burmesiska ungdomar. SYCB är en ungdoms- och studentorganisation som arbetar för ett demokratiskt och fredligt Burma. En grundtanke inom SYCB är att stödja samarbete över etniska och politiska gränser för att på så vis stärka den splittrade burmesiska demokratirörelsen.
Sedan 2006 har Burmautskottet ett volontärprojekt som innebär att vi rekryterar volontärer som undervisar på SYCB:s utbildningsprogram för unga kvinnor från olika etniska grupper i Burma.
Hittills har elva S-studenter, under olika perioder, arbetat som volontärer i Mae Sot.
